Sheshan Family Day Out

Some changes to this event, we will now be picked up from the Portman hotel in time to arrive for brunch, before a VIP tour of the Sheshan Golf Estate, townhouses and villas, followed by tennis, swimming, and Adventure Land for kiddies. The best part? The event is now completely free! RSVP’s are essential to caroline@rowepublicity.com – the family is more than welcome.

Dragon Boat Racing in Hangzhou

We’ve changed the date of the Dragon Boat event to fit in with visit of Prof. De Meyer. A team of ten of the Society’s most athletic (or at least enthusiastic) rowers is needed for the May 24th race to qualify for the Final of the 2008 Hangzhou Xixi International Dragon Boat Match. Transport, refreshments, and all equipment is provided for 300rmb (free if we reach the finals). Please bring your own team spirit! RSVP’s are also required for this one, and we’ll try to fit in a training session beforehand. Just let me know for more information.

Professor De Meyer of the Judge Business School, Cambridge

For the those who feel a little exhausted even reading about the events above, we have a very civilized cocktails and canapés event with the Director of the Judge Business School at Cambridge University, Professor Arnoud De Meyer.

Prof. De Meyer spent 23 years with INSEAD and was the founding Dean of their Singapore Campus. He has also been a visiting professor at Waseda University in Tokyo, Keio University in Tokyo, and the Birla Institute of Technology in India, so he has a wealth of Asia knowledge himself. Sure to be a fascinating opportunity to personally meet such a distinguished academic guest.

Cambridge & Oxford Society Vice-President Corinne Richeux Hua will talk about the situation in the schools for migrant children in Shanghai. Corinne works as a consultant for CSR&Company, and runs various volunteering and philanthropic projects in these schools and elsewhere. Corinne will offer alumni the opportunity to volunteer to teach English to the children in these schools.
